Got to Salem, Oregon on Sunday the 2nd. Met Rich & Tammy in a nice park called HeeHee IllianiHee.
The guys immediately started banging on things & connecting & dis-connecting things. (That's mechanical talk). They found the problem was some mixed up wires and a bad switch. So after a new $800.00 starter and a few hundred on some new batteries they got a new $30 part on Monday and did some re-wiring and "Wahlaa" the situation is good to go. Yay!!
After a bit of conversation about the brake systems (that we need to have to get into Canada like I said already), some phone calls were made and we both now have appointments in Eugene for brake systems to be put on the cars. Couldn't get in till Friday so we are here for 2 more nights.
So we went to check out Silver Falls State Park since we may never get out of the Pacific Northwest. :)
It is really a beautiful park with 10 water falls in a 9 mile circle.
You can hike to see all 10 if you want to do the whole 9 miles.
But we chose to take these hikes and see 3 falls. So beautiful!
We even went behind the falls. Here's Richie with his arms around the falls... Oops we can see his back arm... Not as clever as we thought.
Went to McNary Golf Course for a round of golf on Wednesday.
Corn Fields on one side....
Houses on the other. We have continued to have great weather. But I am continuing to play bad golf.
Then we spotted this golf cart & thought maybe Dale Wheeler was here!! Too bad I can't bring this to Mesa for him. :(
Of course you cannot buy any hard liquor in grocery stores or Costco here. You have to go to a designated liquor store. Richie is looking for one....he thought his bottle of vodka would make it till we got to Canada but since he has been in Oregon for 12 days now it didn't quite make it. Darn!
Thursday morning Rich & Tammy's MH started right up and stayed running so we were good to go. Maybe Donald should have been a mechanic on trucks instead of driving one. :) We checked into Deerwood Luxury RV Park in Eugene. It's a nice little park but I think maybe they should look in the dictionary to see what the word luxury really means.
While our car & MH were getting a brake system at the Hitch Pro & Tow we went down the road for a tour.
It was a short tour of the Marathon Coach Company. They do conversions on Prevost buses and turn them into real LUXURY Motor Coaches. Now these people know what the word luxury means. We were also told the proper pronunciation is Prevo not Preevo. How were we to know? We are not French.
They design, paint, upholster, make the cabinets and the furniture and decorate them all right here. Most of them are made to the buyers specks. It takes about 7 months once the design is all worked out and approved by the buyer.
Richie thinks he looks pretty good in here.
I can't even figure out my dvd player now....can you imagine???
A little alligator on you cabinets anyone?
The lights change colors. Kinda like being in an arcade.
I do have to say the paint jobs are amazing.
This picture doesn't do it justice.
We were told it was unusual to have 3 for sale on the lot but they would not last for more than 30 days before someone buys them. So we figured with only a $2,000,000.00 price tag we better get one on lay-away. In about 40 years from now we can pick it up. Shoot, they don't have the same lay-away plan as Walmart!
Unfortunately I think this is more like what I can really afford. :)
This was in the parking lot at McDonald's were we went for lunch. Richie, Tammy & I thought it was a refurbished oldie. Donald thought it was new. So of course he went in to Mickey Ds and asked the guy who owned it. He was right (for a change). These were first made in 1941 and they just re-made new ones with all the upgrades for today like air & appliances, etc. The guy said they only made 1941 of them and he had to have one. Kinda cute actually.
On Saturday we drove to the little town of Florence on the coast.
These guys just came in with a load of Tuna and were selling it off the boat.
And I think these guys were planning their next fishing trip.
We had lunch at a nice little outside cafe.
And I had to show proof that Tammy LOVED her lunch!
But I also had to show that Fat Willies is not the only ones who brings one person's meal late.
Lots of crab pots stacked up. Maybe Donald & Richie can buy that little boat, load these crab pots on it and go join the guys on the Deadliest Catch. I'd watch. Wouldn't you?
It was a little overcast but still a nice day.
Took a walk down the street in the little town & stopped for a picture. I think we are both wizards but of course Donald says that would be a witch in my case.
Found Richie a Liquor store on the way home. He's a happy camper now!
This is what I call a good TV dinner... sitting out in the fresh air watching the tube. You can see we haven't missed any good meals!
